Seared Tuna makes a great appetizer, especially served with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.


Tuna steaks

Sesame seeds, optional

Canola Oil or other neutral/high heat oil (not Olive oil)


Pickled Ginger

Soy Sauce

Chili Garlic Sauce


Pat steaks dry with a paper towel.

Season steaks generously with kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. Add sesame seeds if desired.

Place a skillet over medium-high heat and coat with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Lay the steaks in the hot oil and sear for 1-2 min on each side to form a slight crust. Adjust time to taste and steak thickness.

You can also grill the steaks. To grill, brush tuna with oil. Sear over high heat 1-2 min per side.

Serve with wasabi, ginger, soy and/or chili garlic sauce.
