Your spent oyster shells can help save NC’s wild oyster population. We’re excited to announce that our East Raleigh location (1408 Corporation Pkwy) is now an official oyster shell recycling drop-off site in partnership with the NC Coastal Federation!
Don’t toss those shells – every recycled shell is returned to the water to create new oyster reefs, which are essential for our coastal ecosystem and economy. Every time you bring your shells back to our East Raleigh location, you’ll be helping restore wild oyster populations and protecting our NC waters.
Why Recycle Oyster Shells?
– Oyster reefs are needed in our sounds.
– Shells are used to build or restore oyster reefs.
– Baby oysters attach to reefs and grow more oysters.
New & Restored Oyster Reefs:
– Provide important habitat for fish, crabs, shrimp, and other seafood.
– Reduce sound side erosion.
– Clean our estuaries as more oysters filter the water.
