Locals Oyster Bar is excited to open inside the long-awaited Durham Food Hall on May 29th, 2020. This will be Locals Oyster Bar’s second location in the Triangle, the first opening inside Transfer Co. Food Hall in December 2018.
While the team hoped to open under different circumstances, executive chef Eric Montagne is grateful for the opportunity to bring fresh NC seafood to the Durham market: “Not only is fresh, locally caught seafood a healthy food option, but supporting local fisheries helps fishing communities on the coast. Fishermen and fish houses have seen restaurant sales drop off a cliff. Consumers can help them survive by buying local.”
The offerings at Locals’ Durham Food Hall location will be limited to start. Menu items will focus on fresh and frozen seafood, including whole fish, fillets and prepared foods like smoked fish dip, crab cakes, and seafood sausages. They hope to offer cooked to order food in the coming weeks.
On Saturday mornings, Locals will host a fresh fish market on the sidewalk outside the Durham Food Hall. Customers will be able to walk up and browse fish selection.
