Seared Tuna makes a great appetizer, especially served with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.


Tuna steaks

Sesame seeds, optional

Olive oil


Pickled Ginger

Soy Sauce

Chili Garlic Sauce


Rinse steaks under cold water. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Season steaks generously with salt and pepper. Add sesame seeds if desired.

Place a skillet over medium-high heat and coat with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Lay the steaks in the hot oil and sear for 1-2 min on each side to form a slight crust. Adjust time to taste and steak thickness.

You can also grill the steaks. To grill, brush tuna with oil. Sear over high heat 1-2 min per side.

Serve with wasabi, ginger, soy and/or chili garlic sauce.
