Wahoo are usually found on solitude or in small, loosely connected groups. Wahoo puts up a fierce fight when hooked, making it a renowned game fish. They spend their lives in tropical waters eating Mackerel, Butterfish, Round Herring, and other small fish.

Traditionally, Wahoo are more commonly eaten in Hawaii and islands of the South Pacific, where it is referred to as “ono,” Hawaiian for good to eat. The meat is mild tasting with a large circular flake, low fat content, and moderate oil content. Wahoo is great grilled or broiled, especially marinaded to lock in moisture.
